1. Moss Side Farm Campsite
Moss Side Farm Campsite is perfect for you if you are looking for a site with gorgeous views as an older family. Moss Side is a family-run farm. On the site, you will find sheep, cows, horses, ducks, pigs and hens. If you are bringing your dog, they must be well behaved and kept on a lead on the farm so that the animals are not disturbed.
This site is located on the southern fells of the Lake District. It is close to the coast, with Haverigg and Silecroft beaches only a 20 minute drive away.
The nearest lake to the site is Coniston, which is a 15 minute drive away. Also nearby is the village of Broughton-in-Furness, which you can walk to on a footpath off the site. The village is booming with pubs, cafes and bakeries.
Within walking distance of the site, there are different footpaths and cycle routes to take. This is particularly useful for motorhome holiday makers who do not want to drive out in the motorhome and do not plan on bringing a car.
Regarding facilities, Moss Side has you covered! Facilities include showers that are free and clean, washing facilities, communal power points and BBQ materials. As Moss Side is a farm that is home to hens, you can buy freshly laid eggs each morning.
This site is perfect for families with older children, as only children over the age of 12 are allowed on the site, and all under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
2. Park Cliffe Camping & Caravan Estate
Park Cliffe is an award-winning camping and caravan site located in the heart of the Lake District with over 25 acres of land. It is a great choice for families and couples who are looking for a site with a great atmosphere and scenic views.
Park Cliffe is perfect for you if you want to enjoy the popular scenery of Lake Windermere. It is only 3 miles away from Bowness-on-Windermere. There are many walking trails nearby, there is something for everyone, whether you are looking for a child-friendly path or something more difficult.
Or, if you want to do something different to mix your holiday up, there are a range of popular indoor attractions such as Puzzling Place, Cliffhanger Rooms and Windermere Jetty.

Also, there is an onsite bar and restaurant during peak season, which serves food that is locally sourced.
Park Cliffe is a dog-friendly site, as long as your dog is friendly and kept on a lead at all times. However, dogs are not allowed in the onsite bar or restaurant.
3. Bardsea Leisure Park
Bardsea Leisure Park is a beautiful family-run motorhome campsite that is located in South Cumbria. It is ideal for families and couples that are looking to get away for a while and enjoy what the Lake District has to offer. A unique and great thing about this site is that it is open all year round.
This site is located only 1 mile away from Ulverston market town, which is one of the best little towns in the Lake District. Also, this site is only 8 miles away from Windermere, which is one of the most popular sightseeing places in the Lake District.
Bardsea Leisure Park welcomes dogs on-site, as long as they are kept on a lead at all times. This site is family-friendly and perfect for families with younger children, as there is a large play area to keep them entertained.
The faculties that are located on-site are great. Bardsea Leisure Park offers spacious toilets and shower blocks that have underfloor heating, which is perfect for colder months. This site also offers WiFi, washing facilities, a dog exercise area and a shop on site.
4. Derwentwater Site
Derwentwater Club Site is a cosy motorhome pitch-up area that has gorgeous views of the north of the Lake District for you to soak in during your stay. This site is ideal for families due to the location with many attractions and walking paths within walking distance and the family-friendly atmosphere on site.
This site is great for motorhome holiday makers as there is so much to do and see within walking distance. It is close to the market town of Keswick, which has a range of shops, restaurants and cafes to enjoy whilst you are there.
Keswick has a lot to offer. There are indoor activities to enjoy, such as museums, a theatre and shops to look around. Or there are walks with different scenic aspects. Whether you are looking for a walk that overlooks hills or lakes or forests, there is something for you. Additionally, you can take a cruise boat for a tour of the lake and hop off at different points to explore.

5. Harbour Side Caravan Site
Harbour Side Caravan Site is a stunning coastal site that is located in the heart of the small town of Maryport Marina, which overlooks Solway Firth.
This is a great motorhome and campervan site as there are many attractions and walks within walking distance. Close to the site, there is an aquarium, two museums where you can learn about the marina’s interesting Roman history, a go-karting track and a golf course. This site is within walking distance of the town centre, which has a huge selection of restaurants, bars and cafes to enjoy on your stay.
Regarding walks to do nearby, you can take a trek across Cumbria Coastal Way. This walk is suitable for all abilities as there are many routes available to take.
This site is perfect for families, as there is a lot to do within walking distance for children of all ages. The site has a wonderful atmosphere, so you can kick back and relax whilst enjoying the gorgeous Marina views.
Dogs are welcome on Harbour Side, as long as they are well-behaved and friendly. However, the owners of the site ask for dogs to be kept on a lead at all times on the site.
Harbour Side has all of the essential facilities such as electricity, free WiFi, laundry rooms, gas and clean water. Also, this site has built a brand new toilet and shower block in 2021.
